Ben Ratliff

Ben Ratliff is a junior at Georgia Southern University, where he studies both Music Education and Composition. There, he studies composition under Dr. Martin Gendelman and has previously studied under Dr. Michael Braz. He also studies conducting under Dr. Robert Dunham and trumpet under Dr. Bill Schmid and has previously studied under Mrs. Alice Schmid. As a composer, Ben's musical works have been performed across the state and region. Some notable schools to perform or read works include: Georgia Southern University, Valdosta State University, Wayne County High School, McIntosh County Academy, Martha Puckett Middle School, Arthur Williams Middle School, and more. While he focuses on writing band works, Ben has also written for solo and chamber ensembles. Ben has written pieces ranging from grade levels 1-5. Most recently, he has been commissioned by the Arthur Williams Middle School Band under the direction of Jessica Carpenter for the 20th anniversary of the school.
